Who we are
eSenZ Terminal ("the app") is published by eSenZ Innovations Pvt Ltd, Bangalore, Karnataka, India ("eSenZ", "we", "us").
The app is a diagnostic and commissioning tool for eSenZ data loggers. It connects to a logger over Bluetooth, shows its diagnostic output, and can optionally relay that output to an eSenZ server so that our support engineers can assist during installation.

We do not sell your data, show advertising, or use the app to build a profile of you. The app has no advertising SDK and no first-party analytics.
Permissions the app requests, and why
Bluetooth (nearby devices)
Required to connect to an eSenZ data logger over a Bluetooth serial connection. The app reads the names and hardware addresses of Bluetooth devices you have paired, and of devices found while you are scanning, so you can pick the correct logger. This information is used on your device to populate the device list. It is not transmitted to us.
Location
The app never determines, records, or transmits your position.
Android requires the location permission before an app may read the name (SSID) of the WiFi network the device is joined to, and — on older Android versions — before it may discover Bluetooth devices. Those are the only two reasons the app asks for it, and both are actions you start explicitly. If you decline the permission, the app continues to work: you can scan a WiFi QR code or type the network name instead.
Camera
Used only when you choose "Scan WiFi QR", to read the WiFi sharing QR code produced by a phone's own network settings. The camera preview is processed on your device to decode the code. No photograph or video is saved, and none is transmitted to eSenZ.
Internet and network state
Used to reach the eSenZ MQTT server when you turn session sharing on, and to determine whether the device is currently on WiFi.
What stays on your device
- WiFi passwords you enter or scan, stored in the platform's secure keystore (Android Keystore, Apple Keychain, or Windows DPAPI) so that configuring further loggers at the same site does not require re-typing them. You can view which networks are remembered, and erase all of them, from Settings → Privacy → Saved WiFi networks.
- App settings such as your chosen mode, display preferences and server selection.
- Recently used session IDs and your command history, to save re-typing. The command history can be cleared from Settings → Display → Command history.
- The current session's on-screen log, held in memory only and lost when the app closes, unless you explicitly export it.
Uninstalling the app removes all of the above from your device.
What is sent to eSenZ, and when
Nothing is sent to eSenZ unless you switch on Share to eSenZ (or, in support mode, join a session). It is off every time the app starts. While it is on, the app publishes to the eSenZ server:
- the diagnostic output produced by the connected logger;
- the commands sent during the session, and the name you set for yourself, so that both screens show who issued what;
- the session ID you typed, and basic connection status such as whether the Bluetooth link dropped.
Logger diagnostic output is technical equipment data — firmware version, serial number, sensor readings, signal strength, error codes. It may therefore describe the site where the equipment is installed. Please consider this before enabling sharing on a customer site.
What is never sent
WiFi passwords are removed before anything leaves the device. The app strips them from data published to the server, from data received back from the logger, and from any session log you export. This applies in both directions and cannot be switched off. Network names can additionally be hidden via Settings → Privacy → Also redact SSID.
Location data, camera images, contacts, files and identifiers for advertising are never collected.
Third-party services
The QR code scanner uses Google ML Kit to decode barcodes on your device. ML Kit performs the decoding locally, but the Google library sends its own diagnostic and usage information to Google when the scanner is used. That transmission is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and is not controlled by eSenZ. If you do not use the QR scanner, the scanner is not started and this does not occur.
The app uses no advertising networks, no crash-reporting service, and no first-party analytics.
How long data is kept
Session data received by the eSenZ server is retained for [SPECIFY RETENTION PERIOD], after which it is deleted. Data held on your device remains until you clear it or uninstall the app.
Security
WiFi credentials are stored using the operating system's secure keystore rather than in ordinary application storage, and are redacted before transmission or export. Access to the eSenZ server requires credentials built into the app, and the server restricts each account to its own sessions.
No system is perfectly secure. Session data travels over the public internet when sharing is enabled, and you should treat any site information visible in a logger's diagnostic output accordingly.
Your choices
- Sharing is opt-in. It is off by default and can be switched off at any time from the main screen.
- Permissions are optional. Declining location or camera leaves the rest of the app fully usable.
- Stored WiFi credentials can be erased from Settings → Privacy.
- Access, correction and deletion. To ask what session data we hold about your installations, or to have it deleted, contact us using the details below.
Children
eSenZ Terminal is a professional tool for installing and servicing industrial equipment. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
